Duck Sauce Music Video and Indie feature!

This weekend was insanely busy, but insanely fun.  I had a two day shoot for an upcoming Duck Sauce Music video. I am not going to give any spoilers, but just know that it will be insane! Literally, the craziest, funniest thing I’ve EVER done. We had a delightful two day shoot and I am super excited to be a part of it. The cast and crew was super rad. It should be out in about two weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.

Also, I wrapped my final day of shooting for Creep Creepersin’s feature film I Was a Teenage Suicide. It’s a really interesting film following a group of teens in their last summer together as they deal with some really heavy issues. You can check out more about the film here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2043883/Again, I won’t give any spoilers, but my character “Tiffany” is the heart of a love triangle and dealing with a lot of pressure for “perfection” from her family. She’s one of those fun characters who gains complexity as the story unfolds…and in a lot of ways I found her struggles easy to relate to. I can’t wait for it to come out in Feb!!

Womanthology

I am so very honored to be a writer working on Womanthology. I will be doing a 4 page story and I cannot WAIT!!

The project is the brainchild of genius Renae De Liz and the support for it has been overwhelming! I’ve never, ever seen anything like it.   Besides being and awesome collaboration of women in comics, and women aspiring to be in comics, and young girls who are being supported in their dreams to be in comics…the project is also entirely for charity. It will be published by IDW, but because it is for charity, there are costs that need to be covered…so a kickstater page was started…less that 24 hours ago…and it’s almost raised an astonishing $20,000!! If you’d like to be a part of supporting this amazing project (or if you like to see love and money pour from a floodgate) you can check it out here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/renaedeliz/womanthology-massive-all-female-comic-anthology

Comediva.com: Hipsters Vs. Rednecks

While I procrastinate on doing the final tweeking for the pilot that I am writing, I thought I would talk about an article that I wrote an love that is currently on Comediva.com.

So, I wrote a not-so-scholarly study on the confusing similarities between hipsters and rednecks. I love working with Comediva, love the idea of Comediva and I really enjoyed writing this article…it’s something I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about recently.

The article: http://www.comediva.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=108:hipsters-vs-rednecks?&Itemid=93

British Sea Power: “Who’s In Control?” Music Video

So, I have to say, I always love acting, but this music video may be the most fun I’ve ever had while filming. It was actually as much fun as the party looks in the video. Awesome, creative, talented people coming together and making a great video to a great song and having a blast while doing it. I literally came home “high on art.”

Yes, it’s a little cheese ball for me to say that, but it’s true. This was fun. I’m proud of it. I loved everyone I worked with, Bridget Palardy and Bajir Cannon are awesome directors. I even had fun at the audition.

So, WARNING the video contains a lot of nudity. So, be aware that it is not for everyone and NSFW.  Use your judgement. But it’s really great. :http://www.britishseapower.co.uk/

My last shoot with The Wiseguys. Or, how filming saves lives.

Today was my last shoot for The Wiseguys: “We Pick The Winners.” It’s been so much fun working with such fantastic people and getting to improvise each week. I played my ditzy-est character to date and it was a blast!

Also, a clip from one of our episodes is going air on Showtime’s Inside The NFL during the playoffs. For now you can check it out(we come in at around the 1:50 mark) at Showtime’s website: http://sports.sho.com/browse/video-portal-infl.html?id=721384043001

That’s super exciting and makes me proud, but the real reason for my post is this insane story: How the cast and crew of The Wiseguys saved a woman’s life on the day of my final shoot.

We were filming in an apartment location. The shoot started normally and then we smelled a faint burning smell. First, we checked the lights and gels, as that’s what usually causes a burning smell on a set. When an actor stepped into the hallway of the apartment that we were shooting in to make an entrance through the front door, the smell got stronger, but it just smelled like burnt cooking, pretty faint and we didn’t hear any smoke detectors going off. As we continued to shoot, the smell got stronger and we still couldn’t figure out the exact source. One actress said “It smells like someone boiled water and burnt the pot.” Still no smoke detector sounds or anything so we just wrinkled our nosies and decided that we wouldn’t want to try eating with any of the neighbors. Then the actor went into the hall again for his entrance and suddenly popped his head back in the door.

“There’s smoke coming out of this door!”

He began pounding on the door next door and shouting “Are you okay in there?”

We all rushed into the hall and heard some incoherent shouting from inside. He kept pounding a yelling and finally the door opened and we were hit with a wall of smoke. I’m serious. It was the most intense smoke-filled place I’d ever seen. Even our camera op. said he was a former fire fighter and had never seen that much smoke in a place.

An elderly woman opened the door and was quite confused and disoriented. There were flames on her stove behind her and the guys rushed in and turned off the stove she then came to and put the pot in the sink and turned on the water. She’d been boiling eggs and had fallen asleep. The knocking on the door is what woke her up to her home full of smoke and a bunch of strangely dressed strangers yelling to her. I doubt she would have woken up at all if it had been much longer.

The guys then set up fans around her house and opened all the windows for her, so it would air out. She couldn’t find her cats and no one saw them anywhere. I’m hoping they found somewhere low to hide, but that amount of smoke would have killed a human in a fairly short amount of time, so I’m not sure there is much hope for the kitties. I really hope they made it.

I’m so glad we happened to be filming today and at that exact time and that we’d had an actor making entrances for multiple takes.  So, yeah, I guess sometimes movies save lives.
